Why People Do Not Take Action

Everyone is always talking about their ambitious goals and all the things they are going to accomplish in their life but why do so few people actually achieve high levels of success while most people don’t even though it is proven that everyone would enjoy much more success than they really have. The reality is that most people don’t want to go through the challenges, sacrifices and form the proper habits needed to get results.

Change is extremely difficult if you are not ready. It is also very easy when you are ready. The hard part is getting to the point where you’ve felt enough pain in order to change. This is because pain is felt in your emotional mind which is your sub-conscious mind that controls your behavior. However, the part of the mind that wants things is the intellectual mind which is also the creative mind and the part of your mind that thinks. So just because people want to reach the next level of success doesn’t mean they will do it because there are two parts of their mind that are involved, the conscious mind (intellectual mind) and sub-conscious mind (the behavioral mind). The reason people are able to change and get results is because they turn that want into a desire which they get emotionally involved with which changes the behaviors because the sub-conscious mind is the emotional mind. Most people will want new stuff but they immediately stop the thinking process because they believe they cannot get it. They never give the idea enough thought for the idea to enter into the sub-conscious mind, which will make that idea a reality. Your sub-conscious mind is one of the hardest things to influence. There are only 2 proven ways to change your sub conscious mind which controls your actions and results, one is through an emotional impact and the second is from repetition. That’s why many people use affirmations because they want to influence their sub conscious mind to act on the ideas in their conscious mind. Another effective way to influence the sub conscious mind is to think and act like the person you want to become. The trick is that your sub conscious mind doesn’t know if you’re lying or telling the truth so if your able to feed a lie to your sub conscious mind making it believe that you are a certain person (for example the more successful person you’d like to become) then eventually it will start to take shape and your sub conscious mind will change the behaviors necessary for you to get the desired results. Easier said then done.

There are 2 prices you have to pay in life, the price of pain or the price of regret. Most people look for the easy way out and would rather take instant gratification vs short term discipline for long term rewards. Our brain chases dopamine which is the element that equals pleasure and because we live in a world where it’s so easy to get stimulated by dopamine from video games, social media and a bunch of different avenues this makes it harder to train your brain into a delayed gratification to only get satisfaction after you’ve done something worth while.

Some people do a dopamine detox which helps re-train their brain into earning the right to feel good vs rewarding themselves for doing nothing. Your brain only thinks with ones and zeros and doesn’t matter how it gets rewarded but looks for the easiest method to get that rewarding feeling even though you’ve accomplished nothing.

It’s important to realize this because if you are trying to take action towards your goals and you know that there is something inside of you that feels unmotivated to do the things you know you have to do to get the results you want to get then you need to train your brain into wanting to do those things. This is easier said than done. Most people recommend to just remove all the easy dopamine triggers from your life so that your brain will not be over stimulated all the time. These triggers include things like video games, social media, eating a lot of sugar and just doing fun stuff that is very rewarding up front but will hurt you in the long run.

We hope this article is able to help you to start taking action towards your goals and gave you better understanding on how your brain and mind have to be in sync to get results.
